Gluten Free Menu Guide Chick-Fil-A (2024 options)
It’s summer which means summer vacations are in full swing, which means road trips, which means eating on the road, which can be difficult when you have to eat a gluten-free diet. One of our family go to options for fast food restaurants, when on the road, is none other than Chick Fil A – shocking I know LOL! Surprisingly, they have several gluten-free options, but in this blog we are highlighting what you can snatch up for “breky” aka breakfast – my favorite meal of the day – and lunch/dinner! So if you love road trips and travel AND Chick Fil A AND have a gluten intolerance/celiac disease, this blog has info for you!
The Chick-Fil-A website has the full menu posted on their official website and on it’s app, but this blog post is going to save you time sifting through all the options. Thankfully, they have a number of gluten-free menu items, that I have broken down into gluten free breakfast menu options, lunch/dinner menu options and dessert options, though it is important to know that different locations may offer different menu items.
Breakfast
Option 1: Fruit Parfait
We are starting off with something light! If I don’t want anything too heavy for breakfast this is my first choice! Though you cannot eat the toppings, the the fruit and the yogurt are quite filling. Sometimes, I will choose this as a side to my grilled chicken, over waffle fries – say what?! But I’m a sweet over savory the majority of the time.
If you are wanting to add protein to the meal, I sometimes add a side of bacon or a sausage patty. Then you have a prefect balance of savoy and sweet, protein, fruit and dairy LOL.
Option 2: Breakfast Sandwich
A sandwich? Yes, Indeed! My go to is the … actually I have two favorites. The sausage, egg and cheese biscuit and the bacon, egg and cheese biscuit. When you order either of these (or any of the biscuits or muffins) you will order without the biscuit and order the gluten free bun instead. Replacing the biscuit with a gf bun is all you need to do!
This option is so so filling and delicious, you don’t feel like you are missing out because you have to eat gluten free at a fast food restaurant.
I do like to pair my breakfast sandwich with a fruit cup – it seems to make the meal feel more well-rounded!
Option 3: Scramble Bowl
I might have saved the best for last! These are a newer discovery for me and, boy of boy, am I glad I found it! Chick Fil A has a menu item called “Hash Brown Scramble Bowl” and the gluten free possibilities are endless here! Chick Fil A has a dedicated fryer for waffle potato fries AND hash browns so there is no risk of cross-contamination with the breading of the nuggets – and all the people with gluten/wheat food allergies rejoiced!
The bowls are layered with crispy hash browns, eggs, cheese, and then your choice of meat. Here are the options for the scramble bowl:
- hash brown scramble bowl with sausage
- hash brown scramble bowl with bacon
- hash brown scramble bowl with a grilled filet
- hash brown scramble bowl with no meat
My favorite choices are the scramble with sausage or the scramble with bacon. Again, a very hearty breakfast option that won’t leave you hungry. I like to order a fruit cup with this breakfast option as well!
Lunch and Dinner
Option 1: Salad
Of course, salad will be an option. And honestly, when I started eating gluten free in 2006, I ate A LOT of salads when eating out with family and friends. It was a “safe” choice (pending the dressing and NO croutons) and honestly, there just weren’t a lot of options then! After a while I was “saladed out” and went on strike LOL.
I am happy to say, I am back to loving salads! Fresh, light and crisp is sometimes all you need in a meal and it ends up being filling and energizing! All three of Chick Fil A’s salads are gluten free, when you don’t consume the toppings.
Personally, I am not a fan of cobb salad, but if that is your jam, just order to swap the breaded chicken nuggets for grilled chicken nuggets and no toppings!
My favorites are the spicy southwest salad and the market fresh salad, but I like them based on the season. For winter and fall I go for the southwest salad, and in spring and summer I go for the grilled market salad. And I confess, I almost always order waffle fries with my salad – perhaps counterintuitive, but worth it indeed.
When I order the southwest grilled chicken nugget salad I choose the avocado lime ranch dressing – YUM! And when I order the garden salad with grilled chicken nuggets, I use the balsamic vinaigrette – also YUM!
The dressings that are gluten free are listed below:
- Avocado Lime Ranch Dressing
- Creamy Salsa Dressing
- Fat Free Honey Mustard Dressing
- Garden Herb Ranch Dressing
- Light Balsamic Vinaigrette
- Light Italian Dressing
- Zesty Apple Cider Vinaigrette
Option 2: Grilled Chicken Sandwich
Grilled chicken sandwiches on Chick Fil A’s new gluten-free bun option – yes, PLEASE! There are currently three options for gf sandwiches:
- Maple Pepper Bacon Chicken Sandwich (this option is seasonal – so RUN to order and enjoy one today!
- Grilled Chicken Sandwich
- Grilled Chicken Club Sandwich
Now, for any of these options, I always choose to assemble with the gluten free bun myself, so I don’t risk the possibility of gluten contamination. You could also order it as a lettuce wrap, rather than a gf bun.
Sauce is boss, as my husband would say, so what are our options! I honestly, hop around when it comes to sauces, it just depends on what I am craving that day! Check them out:
- Barbecue Sauce
- Chick-fil-A®Sauce
- Honey Mustard Sauce
- Honey Roasted BBQ Sauce
- Polynesian Sauce
- Zesty Buffalo Sauce
If I order the sandwich with a bun, sometimes I forgo the waffle fries and get a fruit cup or yogurt parfait, but sometimes not!
Option 3: Grilled Nuggets
Last, but not least, the option I have been ordering for a life time of Chick Fil A going – grilled chicken nuggets! Sometimes I order these with a side of waffle fries, but sometimes I like to order them with a kale crunch side, and mix them together for a yummy salad-ish that is heavy on the protein.
Dipping sauces:
- Barbecue Sauce
- Chick-fil-A®Sauce
- Honey Mustard Sauce
- Honey Roasted BBQ Sauce
- Polynesian Sauce
- Zesty Buffalo Sauce
Dessert
Okay, the gluten-free items are not limited here and I am not sad about that! I have always been a “dip the french fries in the ice cream” kinda girl and Chick Fil A easily supports this venture with their waffle fries being gluten free!
Sweet treat options below:
- Frosted Coffee
- Frosted Lemonade
- Chocolate Milkshake
- Strawberry Milkshake
- Vanilla Milkshake
- Icedream Cup
I don’t order dessert often, in fact, probably only on road trips do I splurge!
